【GE CHENG News】Avanci launches a patent pool for the "aftermarket installed products" with OPPO, ZTE, etc. becoming licensors

Avanci, a patent licensing platform for the automotive Internet of Things (IoT), recently announced the launch of a patent licensing program for the automotive aftermarket (Avanci Aftermarket), which provides licenses for connected devices that are installed after the vehicle is sold, including equipment mounted on vehicles, or applied in containers, trailers and other equipment designed to be towed by the vehicle.

 

It is pointed out by Avanci that the program has already been launched with over 40 patentees engaged in the Avanci vehicle 4G project have joined the project to license basic cellular communication patents, for instance, OPPO, ZTE, DT mobile, MediaTek, etc. The first licensees has already included a company which charges tolls and the other one providing intelligent transportation systems for the public transportation sector.

 

It is reported that the Avanci aftermarket license is for surveillance-specific products, infotainment products and multi-functional aftermarket products these three types of products. The license fee ranges from $3 per monitoring dedicated product device of 2G or 3G to $15 per infotainment product device of 2G, 3G or 4G.

 

Avanci promises that during the limited period of the license agreement, whether it is the increase in the number of 2G, 3G and 4G standard essential patents or the addition of new patentees, the license rate of Avanci aftermarket will not increase.
