Recently, with the official launch of the online application function of the trademark online service system "Madrid Trademark International Abandonment Business", Chinese applicants can apply online for all 10 businesses of Madrid trademark international registration such as application, renewal, transfer, and cancellation, thus the electronization of Madrid trademark international registration has been fully realized.

In recent years, the Trademark Office of CNIPA has continued to deepen the reform of trademark registration facilitation, and continuously optimized the service of Madrid trademark international registration business. In 2021, the online application rate for Madrid international registration of trademarks submitted by Chinese applicants has reached 97%, and the average review period for international registration applications has shortened to 2 months. For the purpose of equally protecting the rights and interests of foreign applicants, the Trademark Office has comprehensively improved the quality and efficiency of the examination of international registration of trademarks. Currently, the examination period for the extension of the territory of the international registration of China designated by the Madrid International Trademark Registration System has been shortened to 4 months, and the examination period of international transfer, alteration and renewal review cycle has shortened to 1 month, reaching the peak of the speed.

Next, the Trademark Office will continue to promote the reform of trademark registration facilitation, further improve the service level of international trademark registration, accelerate the cultivation of new advantages of domestic enterprises in international competition with trademark brands as the core, so as to better serve the development of innovative and entrepreneurial entities.
