CNIPA holds regular press conference in June 2025

The spokesperson of CNIPA outlined progress in precision services for innovators and comprehensive efforts to enhance patent quality as follows:

First, optimize patent application evaluation indicators to enhance quality.

Second, improve patent examination quality and efficiency, optimize the on-demand examination mechanism. From January to May this year, CNIPA has processed three types of patent priority examinations for 84,000 cases, accelerated examinations for 116,000 cases, delayed examinations for over 9,300 cases, and collective examinations for 13 batches, and authorized a significant number of high-value patents that can effectively strengthen the core competitiveness, safeguard national industrial security, and promote industrial transformation and upgrading. Additionally, CNIPA is exploring the application of large-scale model technology in patent examinations to advance intelligent upgrades, further boosting both quality and efficiency of examination.

Third, improve the rapid collaborative protection mechanism for precision services. Based on 77 national-level intellectual property protection centers, "one-stop" IP protection services were provided for all types of entities. From January to May this year, 109,000 patent applications entered the examination through the pre-examination channel under protection centers, a year-on-year increase of 37.5%, effectively meeting innovators’ demands for rapid collaborative protection.

Fourth, enhance patent agency service quality for professional support.
