1. Patent

From January to March 2025, the number of authorized invention patents in China was 199,000, the number of authorized utility model patents was 408,000, and the number of authorized design patents was 161,000.

As of the end of March 2025, the number of valid invention patents in China is 5.824 million. Among them, there are 4.818 million valid domestic invention patents (excluding Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan). The effective number of utility model patents is 11.780 million and the effective number of design patents is 3.115 million.

From January to March 2025, CNIPA accepted 16,000 PCT international patent applications. Among them, 15,000 are applied by domestic applicants.

From January to February 2025, a total of 362 international design applications were applied by Chinese applicants.

2. Trademark

From January to March 2025, the number of trademark applications in China was 1.561 million; the number of trademark registrations is 1.101 million. As of March 2025, there are 50.451 million valid registered trademarks.

From January to March 2025, CNIPA received 1,521 applications for Madrid trademark international registration from Chinese applicants.

3. Geographical indications and integrated circuit layout design

From January to March 2025, in China, there were 3 geographical indication products for production, 13 geographical indications as collective trademarks and certification marks for registration, and 2051 market entities with special signs of geographical indications for use approved. As of March 2025, a total of 2,547 geographical indication products have been approved, a total of 7,415 geographical indication registrations have been approved as collective trademarks and certification marks, and 34,100 market entities have been approved to use geographical indication special signs.

From January to March 2025, there were 2,107 applications for registration of integrated circuit layout designs in China; and 2,257 were issued.
